100% Spam-proof email addresses are now available to the public

Windham, NH -- June 23, 2003 -- Protecteer LLC is announcing AddressShield, a patent pending breakthrough in Spam protection technology. AddressShield combines desktop software with email forwarding and filtering service, capable of stopping 100% of Spam emails.

“Current technological solutions like the ones used by Microsoft’s MSN and by AOL, are not satisfactory because they do not try to prevent Spam; instead they try to stop Spam” says Ami Grynberg, Protecteer’s CEO. “Spam becomes an issue when your email address becomes public knowledge” adds Ami. “Once out, your email address is fair game and trying to stop its abuse by filtering out messages is like trying to stop the torrents of Niagara Falls with a bucket”.

Clearly, guarding one’s email address as confidential information is not a practical solution. Protecteer, therefore, looked at another approach whereby users would not give out their one and only real email address to everyone. Instead, a user is provided with a large number of virtual inboxes each having a different address. An email received by any one of these virtual inboxes is automatically forwarded to the user’s single real inbox. When a user realizes that one of the email addresses that were given out has been abused, he or she can block that address while keeping other addresses open.

“Our contribution”, says Ami Grynberg “is to create a technology that makes this approach secure, practical and simple to use. To this end, we let users create virtual inboxes on demand. We then digitally sign each email address they create, making it spam proof.  To further enhance usability of this innovative technique, we integrated it with our SignupShield smart form filling software. SignupShield fills out digitally signed email address into sign-up forms on Web sites. All with just 1-click. We also let users set the software up so that their outgoing emails are modified to carry a virtual return address, thus keeping their real inbox confidential”. Protecteer does not offer an email service. Users get to keep their current service and email address. However, with AddressShield installed, users now have the option of creating multiple additional email addresses on demand, thus reducing the exposure of their real inbox address.

SignupShield (with AddressShield technology) is provided free of charge to most occasional users. $29.95 is currently being charged from active users who require larger amount of resources.
